Who It Suits

A dorm bed here suits solo travellers who want ensuite rooms, lockers and a kitchen to cook in. Families are covered too, since family rooms are listed among the room types. What To Know Before Booking

• Check-In Window. Check-in runs from 16:00 to 23:00, and check-out is until 10:00, so plan arrivals outside that window around the 24 hour reception.
• Visitor Levy. Edinburgh's visitor levy is 5% of the bed price before VAT, charged on the first five nights of stays from 24 July 2026, and is payable on arrival.
• Membership Fee. All bookings include a temporary membership fee per person per night. Existing Hostelling Scotland and HI members booking through these channels do not get a refund of it.
• Cancellation. Free cancellation applies on selected rates only, so check which rate you are booking before committing.
• Breakfast. Breakfast is not included. The cafe bar sells food daily, and the guest kitchen has a cooker, fridge freezer, microwave and utensils for self-catering.
• Towels And No-Shows. Towels are free in private booked rooms but hired otherwise. A no-show means your card is debited for the full cost of the stay.
