Royal Mile Aparthotel, Old Town
Aparthotel Adagio Edinburgh Royal Mile
Aparthotel in Edinburgh's Old Town.
Edinburgh has 12 aparthotels and self-catering apartments in this comparison, from compact Old Town studios to two-bedroom apartments near the waterfront. Published from-prices start at £125 a night for a double room sleeping two adults, though several listings only show their rate on the live listing page. Every apartment here gives you a kitchen, as does one Old Town aparthotel, and that changes the maths in a city where eating out adds up quickly.
Six aparthotels and six apartments make up this set of twelve. Five aparthotels publish a from-price, running £125 to £163 a night for a double room in midweek November; the sixth, rated 9/10 in Leith, prices on the live listing only, as do all six apartments. Every apartment has a kitchen, and one Old Town aparthotel at £149 does too.

Check availability →Aparthotels such as Holyrood Aparthotel or the Heeton Concept properties give you hotel-style check-in and housekeeping alongside an apartment-style kitchen, which suits shorter city breaks. A private apartment, including the host listings with smaller review counts, trades daily service for more space and often a lower rate on longer stays. Decide first whether you want the bed made each morning.
Location matters as much as style. Stays around the Royal Mile put you within walking distance of the castle, while Ocean Serviced Apartments sits closer to Leith and the shore. During festival season, being ten minutes further out can mean a noticeably cheaper week, since you cook some evenings rather than hunting for a table among the crowds.
Book early for August. The Fringe fills the city and rates climb steeply, with occupancy in recent Augusts running above ninety per cent. Hogmanay and Six Nations rugby weekends behave the same way. A midweek November night is the cheapest benchmark, from £125 for a double room. Note that Edinburgh's visitor levy adds 5% to the accommodation cost for the first five nights of any stay from 24 July 2026.
